  8.    addresses rather than host names.  It seems that on some
  9.    windows platforms gethostbyname() works with a dotted IP while
  10.    on others it does not.  Bad form apparently.  Mea culpa.

  17.  - added startupSleep registry hack.  This is the number of seconds
  18.  for which automachron will sleep before continuing with its startup.
  19.  This can be used in situations where the network is not configured
  20.  properly for an amount of time at startup.
